Optical switch module

The Optical Switch allows to develop 1+1 full duplex redundancy schemes (one fiber in each direction of traffic) in scenarios where it is needed a backup fiber loop. It allows working with wavelengths between 1270 and 1610nm, either individually (second and third window) or DWDM and CWDM type scenarios with different  wavelengths simultaneously.

The Optical Switch has three optical interfaces: two located in the upper front corresponding to the redundant network interfaces (also called central interfaces), and the lower interface corresponding to the local interface. In turn each interface has a reception (Rx: Optical Switch input) and a transmission interface (Tx: Optical Switch output).

It has the following policies / criteria for switching in case of fall of the main fiber (event LOS Loss Of Signal):

 · Reversible switching: switches to the secondary route in case of appearance of LOS the main route. Return to the main route in case of disappearance of LOS in the route

 · Non Reversible switching : LOS when a LOS event on the main route, switching to the secondary and remains there even when the LOS disappears from the main route. Optical Switch will return to the main route in the case of an event is declared in the secondary route LOS and LOS has disappeared from the main.

 · Forced switching: the user manually selects the primary or secondary route. LOS events are ignored when switching performed.

These policies, as defined as the primary interface is defined through an SNMP management console.
