ROADM 1x2 Module
The ROADM module is a reconfigurable optical add-drop multiplexer that can operate in 2 different modes:
DROP MODE: Allows choosing which of the two possible paths (port PASS A or port PASS B) will follow each of the wavelengths of the DWDM spectrum coming from the common port.
ADD MODE: Allows choosing which of the two ports (PASS A or PASS B) will provide each of the DWDM wavelengths that will go in the common port.
In both modes there can be determined an attenuation applied to each of the DWDM wavelengths (in grid of 50GHz or in 100GHz grid) to a max. of 20dB and a granularity of 0.1dB. This allows equalization functions in the case of using multichannel DWDM optical amplifiers that need a flatness in the optical input to it.
The module has two independent 1x2 ROADM, fully reconfigurable via software. The parameters that can be configured are:
· Routing of each individual wavelength to one of the two ports.
· Attenuation of each wavelength (up to 20dB with a granularity of 0.1 dB).
· Possibility to lock each of the wavelengths.
· Grid of 50GHz or 100GHz
Through an SNMP console, the ROADM 1x2 can be managed remotely, as long as it is inserted into a TeraSAE chassis with control card. Through this console is possible the reconfiguration and monitoring of both ROADM 1x2.
