Benefits of the Solution
- Extension of the useful life of the conventional telephone loop
- Symmetrical bandwidth access over the telephone pair
- Maintenance of telephone extension and/or voice services
- Establishment of a demarcation point between the user network and the MPLS/IP services network
- Facilitates operation and management of the service offered by the operator
- Bandwidth configuration
- Identification of the source of problems
- Loop establishment
- Automated configuration download
- In-band management. Access does not have to be enabled in the client premises to manage the equipment.

Up to 4Mbps symmetrical bandwidth with one telephone pair
TELNET Redes Inteligentes provides the SH 100-IB module for applications on the telephone loop that require symmetrical bandwidth.
The SH 100-IB is based on the ITU-T’s SHDSL standards. It can work over one or two telephone pairs, offering 2Mbps of symmetrical bandwidth (2Mbps downstream and 2Mbps upstream) over each pair. In connections that use two pairs, the SH 100-IB internally aggregates both 2Mbps channels to have a single 4Mbps symmetrical virtual channel.
The SH 100-IB module’s SHDSL technology extends the life-cycle of copper infrastructure, while at the same time facilitating the provision of broadband services in areas where optical fiber has not been installed.
Also, SHDSL technology and the SH 100-IB make it possible to maintain the conventional telephone extension on the same telephone loop. For this reason, the SH 100-IB includes an RJ-11 port to connect a telephone or fax.
The SH 100-IB has all of the capabilities of TELNET’s line of Broadband Access solutions:
- Master and slave operation. All SH 100-IBs can work interchangeably as MASTER (installed in MiniSAE) or SLAVE (installed in MicroSAE or TriSAE). The configurations established in the MASTER (speed, negotiation, etc.) force the functioning of the SLAVE.
- Remote management of the device. Both modules can be managed with a single IP that comes pre-configured: MASTER and SLAVE. End users can’t access MicroSAE or TriSAE management (SLAVE units)
- Link management. From the MASTER, a TEST can be initiated to check the status of the telephone loop that connects to the client
- Error propagation. If a fault occurs at any of the following points, the LOS (Loss of Signal) event is propagated in order to enter Spanning Tree service.
- FastEthernet cable or interface involved in the connection of the client network and the SH 100-IB module.
- Telephone loop involved in the client link with MiniSAE
- Cable, fiber, and interfaces existing on the MiniSAE connection with plant switch
TELNET’s SH 100-IB solution also allows connections between two locations where telephone cable is available. In these cases, it significantly simplifies the interconnection of centers where the installation of UTP or fiber-optic cable is not feasible for economic or technical reasons.
